Week 4 My learning focus is to go surfing with the surf school. My comment: The surf school taught my whole class how to surf. We started off by getting told the safety measures, We got taught what to do if we got caught in a rig and we also got taught on how to protect our heads when we got knocked off our surfboards it’s called the surfers helmet. You have to put both arms over your head, one around the top of your head and one wrapped around the side. While we were on the beach we got taught how to stand up by following these five simple steps: Paddle out to were the waves are crashing and wait until you see a big wave forming Turn your board around so that It is facing the shore then climb onto it and start paddling When the wave touches your feet then do four more big paddles When the wave is pushing you along put your arms under your chest then raise your knee to just below your chin so you are crouching on your board Slowly raise yourself so that you are standing in a low position and enjoy the ride! We all went out to the water and got right on into it. Overall I think we had a great time and learnt a lot about surfing and safety in the water.

My learning focus was to complete a blog profile. Every Friday at Te Kura o Waima we do art class. We have to go to rooms one and two and our art teacher Mrs Davidson tells us what we are to do that day. For this piece of art we had the choice of doing a picture bubble or a silhouette. I had a chose to do a picture bubble which is all about me and what I like doing. I enjoyed drawing all the things that I like and expressing myself. Feel free to comment on my art.

My favourite sweet thing to eat has got to be the chewy chocolate chip cookies we made at technology. Here is the recipe: INGREDIENTS: 200g butter 1 cup White Sugar 1 cup Soft Brown Sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla essence 3 cups flour pinch of salt 1 tsp baking powder 2 cups chocolate chips METHOD: Melt butter, and add both sugars and cream these together. Beat in the eggs and vanilla then mix in the dry ingredients. Roll into medium sized balls, making sure the mixture is not too wet! Put on a well greased baking tray. They shouldn't spread too much so flatten slightly. Bake at 180° for 8-10 minutes. Tip: you can easily half this recipe. Or roll half into a log, wrap in cling film and freeze. Cut into 15 pieces while still frozen and bake. -enjoy this is a picture of my baking:
